Tomorrow marks the theatrical premiere of the Hunger Games, and to celebrate we will be hosting a Hunger Games Gathering at the Southern Boone Country Public Library on Friday, April 6 from 6:30-8 p.m. We will quiz you on your Panem trivia and invite you to participate in a Cornucopia Competition. While we won’t be battling to the death, we will be battling for points. This program is for ages 12-18. To register, please call (573) 657-7378. Space is limited, so call soon!
If you still haven’t had a chance to read this bestselling book, take this opportunity to reserve a copy at the library, download the audio version to your iPod, or listen to the book on CD. You can even reserve a copy of the film soundtrack! And, when this book leaves you looking for an equally awesome dystopian novel with heart-stopping action and a touch of a love story, you should definitely check out these titles:
The Carbon Diaries 2015 by Saci Lloyd- Delirium by Lauren Oliver (I’m looking forward to reading this book and its sequel, Pandemonium, which was recently published.)
- Divergent by Veronica Roth (One of my new absolute favorites! The sequel, Insurgent, will be released in May 2012.)
- Empty by Suzanne Weyn
- Gone by Michael Grant
- The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
- Legend by Marie Lu (Check out the review by DBRLTeen blogger, Dana.)

- Matched by Allyson Condie (Check out the newly released sequel, Crossed.)
- Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi (Another title on my must-read list! The sequel, “The Drowned Cities,” is set to publish in May 2012.)
- Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
- Wither by Lauren Destefano (While I haven’t read this book, this title also comes highly recommended by Dana.)
