hroughout the school year, DBRLTeen has been highlighting those books nominated for the Gateway and Truman Readers Awards. The Gateway Readers Award honors a young adult book as selected by Missouri high school students, while the Truman Readers Award is chosen by junior high students. Even though this award is administered by the Missouri Association of School Librarians (MASL), it is the responsibility of Missouri teens to choose the actual winner. Based on circulation figures throughout our library system, DBRLTeen predicts that the following books will be recognized as this year’s top titles:
Truman Award Winners:
- First Place: Maze Runner by James Dashner
- Second Place: The Cupcake Queen by Heather Hepler
- Third Place: The Last Thing I Remember by Andrew Klavan
Gateway Award Winners:
- First Place: Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
- Second Place: Hate List by Jennifer Brown
- Third Place: If I Stay by Gayle Forman
The actual award winners will be announced at the MASL spring conference. DBRLTeen will have coverage of this announcement next week! Subscribe to our email updates to have the results delivered directly to your inbox!
