The Columbia Public Library celebrated Teen Summer Reading by decorating the teen area in “Nightmares and Dreamscapes.” Bookshelves within the “nightmare” are draped in black vines with carnivorous, blood-spattered flowers and wicked fairies. Those shelves existing in the “dreamscape” are adorned in wisteria vines with a more cheerful band of fairies.
Artist and children’s associate Dana Bocke says, “I loved the idea of representing the opposites of dark/light, harmless/dangerous, fantasy/torment, and yet making the whole thing look beautiful.”
