Our patrons frequently ask us what books we’re currently enjoying. As library staff members, we’re a happy to recommend many adventurous tales that will take readers across the Mountains of Rain and Night in the “Ruins of Gorlan,” through the mysterious town of Cambridge Falls in “The Emerald Atlas,” and along the dystopian Gulf Coast in “Ship Breaker.” Have you already read one of these books? What We’re Reading:
“Trickster’s Girl” by Hilari Bell
Three words that describe this book: Native American, adventure, future.
“Masque of the Red Death” by Bethany Griffin
A sad and dream-like novelization of the Edgar Allen Poe short story.
Ranger’s Apprentice series by John Flanagan.
Think of the main character, Will, as the secret agent of medieval times.
“The Fear” by Charlie Higson
A new kind of zombie…not for mothers and fathers!
The Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger
A hilarous series that combines werewolves, vampires, intrigue and tea.
“Kraken” by China Mieville
An apocalypse, a stolen Kraken (pickled) and a surreal mix of religion and magic set in the underworld of London.
“The Ruins of Gorlan” by John Flanagan
A coming of age Tolkienesque adventure.
What We’re Listening to:
“Played in Space” by Something Corporate
A “best of” compilation that makes me desperately hope for a new album.
“Once” musical soundtrack by Glen Hansard
Beautiful recordings of the Broadway cast.
