We kick off Teen Read Week with a reminder that this is the last week to submit your original mystery, suspense, or horror short story for DBRLTeen’s Flash Fiction Contest. All entries must be 250 words or less and incorporate the phrase, “It came from the library…” Winners will receive a gift card to Barnes & Noble and their entries will be posted at teens.dbrl.org.
Be sure to review the complete list of contest rules and submission guidelines before jotting down the rough draft of your story. If you have questions regarding this contest, you can speak with a librarian by calling (573) 443-3161 or emailing teen@dbrl.org.
In the meantime, if you are looking for some inspiration for your short story, take a look at some of the scary, strange, and suspenseful books on display at the Columbia Public Library this month:
- ”Anna Dressed in Blood” by Kendare Blake
- “I Hunt Killers” by Barry Lyga
- “This is Not a Test” by Courtney Summers
- “The Replacement” by Brenna Yavanoff
- “All Unquiet Things” by Anna Jarzab
